Besides, as the saying goes, there is no limit to knowledge. In the case that you will be staying in Thailand for quite some times, Thai language skill will be very beneficial. From daily grocery shopping to emergency situations, being able to communicate correctly is crucial. Imagine if one of your friends suddenly fainted and you need to go and get help. Now what will you do? Panicking and gesturing in sign language to random passerby are not the best way to get your point across. It might work, but wouldn’t it be easier to be able to tell them what had happened through the use of words? There are many Thai language schools in Bangkok and you may find information about them online.

Even though the number one priority of all Thai language schools is to teach you Thai, but the way it is taught will be different in different schools. Many of the language schools (for teaching English or Thai) allow you to sit in for a free trial class to let you sample a bit of what you will encounter. Some schools will teach you the “academic way” with lectures on grammar, pronunciation, and reading. Teachers might have you repeating words many times. Some students may not like this method of teaching especially adult students who may feel it’s boring and almost preschool-like. Other schools will emphasize on activities and applying the language in real life situation. Different students will have different preferences so it’s really up to you to decide on what type of class environment you are more comfortable to study in. If it’s your first time learning Thai, please try not to feel frustrated on your first lesson. If you are a Native English Speaker, then the Thai language will look overly complicated. After all there are only twenty-six alphabets in the English language whereas there are forty-four consonant alphabets in Thai in addition to fifteen vowels. But like with any language, it takes time and practice. The more you practice Thai, the better you will be at it.
